Kevin Blackburn won the USRA Modified main event.

WINSTON, Mo.—The I-35 Speedway held their final event of the 2015 season Saturday with McCarthy Auto Group Championship Night.

The USRA B-Mods saw a new face added to the winners list in 2015 as Johnny McGinnis charged to the front and on to victory, capturing his first feature win this year at I-35 Speedway. McGinnis was challenged often but ran a flawless feature to see the checkers first.

The big mover of the race, Steve Starmer, placed second. Starmer started last in the feature as he suffered problems in his heat race and passed everybody but McGinnis. USRA B-Mod track champion Tim Eaton, who also had problems in his heat race, charged from the back to the front and placed third on the night. Bud Wilson raced to the checkers and placed fourth, holding of Dustin Miller.

Heat race winners were one-time leader Randy Ainsworth, who suffered a broken drive shaft, and Clint Baker. Baker was a lead contender until steering issues forced him over the bank in turn 1 and out of the race.

Johnny McGinnis won the USRA B-Mod main event.

USRA Stock Cars saw great racing action from start to finish as they took to the 3/8-mile of dirt. Chris Dishong took the early lead and was the car to beat early as he set a blistering pace for the first half the feature. As the race progressed, Jason Estes charged to the front after an early race mishap sent him to the back. As Estes was challenging for the lead, mechanical problems forced him from the feature and Dishong followed him to the pits one lap later with mechanical issues.

When the yellow flag was lifted, Billie Hoover led the race and battled wheel to wheel with Thomas Roberts for several laps. Roberts took over the top spot and never relinquished it, picking up win #81 of his illustrious career. Hoover went on to finish a close second with Alvie Christofferson crossing the line third. Blake Peeler was among the leaders all race and mounted a charge in the end to place fourth with Jon Boller III ending the night fifth.

Heat race winners were Estes and Jon Boller Jr., who suffered a flat tire early from contact and retired from the feature. Your 2015 USRA Stock Car track champion is “Hollywood” Dean Wray.

Thomas Roberts won the USRA Stock Car main event.

USRA Modifieds did not disappoint with great racing action up front. Kevin Blackburn, on his first visit to I-35 Speedway, found the fast smooth track to his liking, out-dueling second-place finisher Issac Dotson and picking up the feature win. Blackburn was not challenged in the later stages of the race and cruised to victory.

Heat race winner Derick Hicks took the third spot on the night with Ryan Schaffer fourth. The other heat race winner, John Hanson, recovered from an early-race spin to mount a charge back through the field to finish fifth. The 2015 USRA Modified track champion is Dennis Elliott.

I-35 Speedway track champions for 2015 were honored on Saturday night.
