DECORAH, Iowa—The Upper Iowa Speedway victory lane saw some new and familiar faces on Saturday night.

The USRA B-Mods were due up first on the call sheet. Kyle Anderson started pole and already had a pair of top-fives under his belt for the 2015 season at the Upper Iowa Speedway. Anderson jumped out to a quick multi-car lead just before multiple cars got together at the entrance of corner 3. Anderson maintained his lead until just before the halfway point. By then, Matt Jones worked himself up into the second position with eighth-starting Dan Hovden also knocking on the door. Hovden made it interesting when an opening between Anderson and Jones broke out and then made it three wide for a lap and and a half. Hovden took over the top spot and cruised into victory lane for yet another feature win at the Upper Iowa Speedway. Anderson captured silver and Jones took home bronze.

The USRA Hobby Stocks stepped up to the plate with Paul Seabrooke and Chris Hovden sitting on the front row. Just as the green flag waved, Scott Spilde got sideways entering corner 1. Multiple cars were collected, but all were able to continue. On the restart, Hovden started to open the distance from Seabrook and the rest of the field as they battled two-, three- and, sometimes, four-wide. Steve Holthaus, who just last week picked up his 166th career feature win, pulled alongside Seabrooke as they were battling for second with only three laps remaining. Just as Hovden looked as if he was going to pick up his first feature win at the Upper Iowa Speedway since 2011, the caution flag waved. On the restart, Hovden rode the high side followed by Holthaus, but Seabrooke snuck around on the bottom lane and stole second away from Holthaus at the line as Hovden earned the “W” for the first time in four years at the Upper Iowa Speedway.

The USRA Stock Cars saw a little bit of everything on Saturday night. Kevin Donlan started to work a steady lead as the rest of the field jockeyed behind him. Dillon Anderson was running the same high line as Donlan, but Bryan Webb was making due on the bottom. As the field started to battle it for second, third and fourth, a caution flag waved near the halfway point of the 20-lap feature. Just shortly after the caution, Mitch Hovden pulled off the track with some mechanical issues and this opened the door for Dan Jones and Lynn Panos. Panos eventually took over the third place position from Webb, but just then Anderson got too high in the corner and struck the outside wall. As Anderson was pulling off the track, Panos made the pass to take over the second spot. Donlan drove away with a victory for his second one of the weekend. Panos took home second and Bryan Webb claimed third.

The Upper Iowa Speedway will take its talents to the Cresco Speedway on Thursday, July 2, when the USRA Holley Iron Man Series featuring USRA Stock Cars and USRA B-Mods comes to town. The show is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start with racing to follow. Also on tap for Thursday night will be the USRA Hobby Stocks and two other supporting classes. Adults will be $15 and children 11 & under are free. Pit passes will be $30.
