SPRING VALLEY, Minn.—Jared Boumeester of Ellendale, Minn., took the lead from Erik Kanz on lap 7, and then drove away to score the USRA B-Mod main event win Friday night on night 2 of the 16th Annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree at the Deer Creek Speedway.

Starting on the pole, Boumeester settled into second behind Kanz on the first lap and shadowed his fellow Gopher State racer for the first six caution-filled circuits before making a bold move to take over the top spot.

From there, Boumeester cruised to the $1,000 triumph and his first Iron Man Challenge win while the action behind him was furious and non-stop.

Ben Moudry got around Kanz with six laps remaining but was unable to track down the high-flying Boumeester and settled for the runner-up paycheck.

Meanwhile, 13-year-old Dustin Sorensen clawed his way to third from 20th on the 30-car starting grid, and earned the Hard Charger Award.

Shaun Walski nipped Kanz for fourth. Cullen DeRuyter, USRA B-Mod national points leader Chad Clancy, Dan Wheeler, Trevor Fecht and Deer Creek Speedway track champion Jacob Bleess completed the top 10.

Points leader Cory Crapser had mechanical problems in his heat race and was unable to bounce back to find a transfer spot out of his “B” Main. Nonetheless, he continues atop the standings over Wheeler, Jared Timmerman, Bleess and Dustin Kruse.

The third and (sadly) final night of the 2014 Featherlite Fall Jamboree happens tomorrow (Saturday, Sept. 20). USRA Modifieds will be shooting for $10,000 to win and USRA B-Mods will be racing for $1,000 to win.

The annual Fall Jamboree Bean Bag Tournament begins at 12 noon near the campground. The pit gate opens at 2 p.m., spectator gates open at 4 and the first green flag waves at 6. General admission adult grandstand tickets are $30 and kids ages 12 and younger are just $10.

Thirty cars will take the green flag to start the main event in both classes. As if that wasn’t enough, Modified drivers who don’t make their way into Saturday’s championship finale will have a chance at one of 30 spots in the Non-Qualifiers Race which carries a $2,000 top prize and pays $400 to start.

As always, a delicious hot breakfast will be served each morning by the Bear Creek Lutheran Church in the hospitality area from 8-11 a.m.
