DECORAH, Iowa -- The 2014 Winneshiek County Fair race was brought to a close by funnel cakes and Adam Cline, the reigning USRA Hobby Stock national champion. Cline held a multiple-car lead until a late caution sprung out with just two laps remaining. Cline was able to muscle his way into victory lane after being untouched on the restart. Cline claimed his second feature win of the season at the Upper Iowa Speedway followed by Steve Holthaus, Benji Irvine, Steve Larson and Nathan Lerch to round out the top five.

In the USRA Stock Car feature, the race fans were treated with a rare visit from Shay Curtain on fair night. The Waukon native lead a majority of the feature race but was being heavily pursued by Mitch Hovden. As the rest of the field battled two-, three- and sometimes four-wide, a multiple-car caution brought the USRA Stock Car juggernauts back together. On the restart, Hovden was able to drive away to victory en route to another Winneshiek County Fair race win. Hovden, followed by Curtin, Dan Jones, Pete Solum and Lynn Panos, closed out the night for the USRA Stock Cars.

After starting on pole for the USRA B-Mod feature, Chris Roney jumped out to a three-car lead early in the race. However, after three mid-race cautions, Roney was eventually ran down by Dan Hovden and Matt Jones. Jones, looking to claim back-to-back checkers at the Upper Iowa Speedway, dueled with Hovden as the laps started to wither away. Yet another late-race caution brought the field back together and the fans on the edge of their seats. But it was Hovden who scored the cotton candy on fair night as he edged Jones by half-car-length at the stripe. Hovden was followed by Jones, Jason Schlangen, Brian Mahlstedt and Roney to seal the deal on fair night for the USRA B-Mods.

The Upper Iowa Speedway drivers and track officials make the trip west on Hwy. 9 to Cresco Speedway for the remaining weekends in the July. The next race will be held on Sunday, July 20, at the Howard County Fair Grounds as a part of the split schedule.
