WINSTON, Mo.—Steve Jackson earned the USRA Stock Car victory in a wild main event while Chad Clancy dominated the USRA B-Mod feature race Saturday night as the Iron Man Challenge made a stop at the I-35 Speedway in Winston, Mo.

Jackson started on the pole for the 25-lap USRA Stock Car feature and led all 25 laps, but his victory was anything but easy.

For nearly every lap, the veteran racer from Polk City, Iowa, had to withstand repeated challenges from Kansas City speedster Brett Heeter.

Heeter nearly pulled even with Jackson on lap 15, but the two made brief contact which nearly turned Jackson’s machine into the wall directly beneath the flagstand.

But this wasn’t Jackson’s first rodeo, and he recovered nicely to maintain his advantage while Heeter was forced to divide his attention between the leader and a hard-charging Thomas Roberts.

Roberts, a regular competitor at the high-banked 3/8-mile clay oval and winner of the last two USRA Stock Car features here, applied pressure to Heeter for the remainder of the race and made the most of a bobble by Heeter in the final corner to slip by and steal the runner-up spot behind Jackson.

Friday night’s winner in Bloomfield, Iowa, Kyle Falck, was a close fourth while former Modified standout Dean Wray rounded out the top five finishers.

Jackson’s work was rewarded with a $750 payday.

In the USRA B-Mod finale, nobody had anything for Clancy as the Smithville, Mo., racer launched into the lead from the outside of the front row at the appearance of the green flag and proceeded to run away and hide from the field to score the $600 win.

Polesitter Dakota Foster held off Dan Wheeler to claim the runner-up spot while Truman Asher and 12 starting Yancy Shepard completed the first five drivers to the finish line.

Next up for the Iron Man Challenge is a Memorial Day Weekend swing that will see both USRA Stock Cars and USRA B-Mods in action.

Thursday, May 22, will find the series at the Buena Vista Raceway in Alta, Iowa, and then take a day off before venturing to Spring Valley, Minn., for a date at the Deer Creek Speedway on Saturday, May 24.

The weekend wraps up on Sunday, May 25, at the Upper Iowa Speedway in Decorah, Iowa.
