Travis Smith scored his second USRA Modified win of the season Friday night, April 4, at the Humboldt Speedway.

HUMBOLDT, Kan. -- The first Friday night of the 2014 regular season, and newly-minted USRA Modified phenom Travis Smith took home his second Humboldt Speedway feature win in as many weeks.

Smith, who won his first ever feature at Humboldt last year, spent the bulk of the race chasing John Allen for the lead until, in lapped traffic, Allen tagged the wall, giving Smith the opening he needed to rocket into the lead, hotly pursued by runner-up Steven Bowers Jr. Jeremy Chambers claimed third while Payden Phillips and Jon Sheets rounded out the top five in the McCarthy Auto Group sponsored feature.

The Golden Knights Billiards USRA Stock Car feature saw Gary Langworthy Jr. record a wire-to-wire victory, edging out Jeremy Wilson. Tyler James was third, David Matlock fourth and Jason Thurman fifth.

Racing with a heavy heart after the recent passing of a beloved uncle, Tyler Kidwell captured the Ray’s Metal Depot USRA B-Mod feature, dedicating the win to his uncle’s memory. Jimmie Davis recorded a hard-fought second, holding off hard-charging Andy Bryant. Fourth went to Tim Phillips. Toby Thompson took fifth.
