CRANDALL, Texas -- This past Friday night, the corporate promotional team of O’Reilly Auto Parts drove a long distance to come meet the fans and teams of RPM Speedway at the Summer Slam.

Unfortunately, weather intervened right before the races were to start, forcing an end to the highly anticipated night of racing and family fun. Race teams from three states were already in the pit area set to battle it out for the bulging advertised purse.

When the RPM track officials asked the O’Reilly team what they’d like to do, they responded: “This place is awesome! We’re not going to let a little weather dampen the fun we had in store for the RPM fans – we want to come back to give them what we advertised!”

So, that is exactly what is going to happen.

The running of the RPM O’Reilly Summer Slam 2 is going to be held Friday, August 9th.

Not only is the event being rescheduled, track promoter Jason Troutman has raised the purse even further in the USRA Modifieds, Limited Modifieds and Factory Stocks. Each feature winner will now take home a whopping $1,200. Street Stocks will be racing for $500 to win.

Jason comments: “The crazy weather pattern that 2013 has become is definitely making it more challenging, but we’re not backing down. We’re just going to turn up the volume even more – maybe then Zeus will give us a break.”

Once again, a fantastic night of fun and racing is on tap Friday August 9th at RPM Speedway in Crandall, Texas with the running of the O’Reilly Auto Parts Summer Slam 2. O’Reilly Auto Parts will return with their traveling outdoor mobile display unit set up for fans to win one of several hundred prizes throughout the evening. Prizes include: O’Reilly Auto Parts gift certificates, hand-held calculators, O’Reilly coolers, autographed #20 Tony Stewart 1/24 die cast car, Frisbees, O’Reilly ball caps & more!

There are no added pit pass costs or entry fees for this event. Normal ticket prices are also in effect, with $12 for Adults, $5 for youth ages 6-12. Kids 5 and under are free with adult purchase. The track is also forgoing track registration fees to new drivers in all race divisions.

The traveling teams of the North Texas STARS Racing Series (NTSRS.net) will also compete in heat and feature races.

Here are the racing highlights for Friday August 9th:

-The USRA Modifieds ($1,200/win and $100/start), Limited Modifieds ($1,200/win), Street Stocks ($500/win) and Factory Stocks ($1,200/win) will all run heats and features; as will the NTSRS.net drivers.

-There are no entry fees in any division. Reminder to Factory Stock teams: powerglide transmissions are legal, as long as the car races with RPM legal asphalt pull off tires on all four corners.

Here is the schedule for Friday August 9th:

PIT GATE OPENS at 5:00pm. All cars draw for heat race starting position. Passing points awarded.

GRANDSTANDS OPEN at 6pm (fans can visit the O’Reilly mobile display upon their arrival and throughout the evening)

MANDATORY* WHEEL PACKING 7pm (ALL CARS, ALL CLASSES)

DRAW CUT OFF & HOT LAPS at 7:30pm SHARP

FIRST GREEN FLAG is at 8pm SHARP

REGULAR GRANDSTAND TICKET PRICES ($12 for adults) and pit passes ($30 for all ages) are in effect, with no driver entry fees in any division.

*Mandatory Wheel Packing from 7-7:30 for all cars in all classes. If your car does not wheel pack by 7:30 (at the time of the draw cutoff), you will start your heat race at the tail of the field and there are no passing points for those drivers. This applies to all drivers in all race divisions.
