Vande Weerd leads last lap en route to I-90 Speedway winners circle

HARTFORD, S.D. -- Saturday night at the I-90 Speedway, the best race of the night was the 15-lap USRA B-Mod feature.

Polesitter Cameron Vande Weerd held off Brad Haas for the first two laps until Chris Thompson got past both drivers.

However, Thompson's lead dwindled as Miah Christensen worked the cushion and eventually got by Thompson on the eighth lap.

At about the same time, Vande Weerd began to surge again on the track's bottom.

He ran close to Christensen for several laps and got alongside Christensen in turns 1-2 but couldn't make the pass.

On the final lap, a slower car moved up the track as the leaders came out of the second turn, allowing Vande Weerd to take the lead and race to the win.

Christensen's misfortune turned into a seventh-place finish as Dudley Schroeder Jr., Dave Kennedy, Chris Thompson, Mason Daughers and Dustin Kruse also got by him on the final lap.
