McAninch pads points lead with USRA Modified win at Humboldt

The Hummer has had good racing all year long but tonight just may have made all the previous nights look average. Tight racing was all over and 3 wide action was not uncommon. If anyone left early they missed out.

The final race of the night had plenty of excitement as well. One driver that is normally a front runner every year has had the worst luck of any driver. Pee Wee Folk would take a strong command of the race from the start. But he had a familiar rival on his heals. Whitey Folk would try to drive under his brother multiple times but would change up his strategy and go towards the top grove and made the pass for the lead.

A few cautions would take away some good racing. The 52 car of Wichita native Ryan McAninch would put his name in the mix. After getting by 7Jr he set his sight on the 6 of Whitey Folk. Ryan would go high and Whitey would take the low line.

After a few laps McAninch would have to go low into three and four to get a good run to try and make the pass, then Whitey would have rear end trouble and the car just stopped moving coming out of four. The 52 would clip the rear end of the 6 and about retire both drivers. Ryan would keep goin and inherit the lead on the restart. With a clear track in front of him he would go on to take the McCarthy Auto Group USRA Modified feature win adding to his point lead. Jess Folk would come home a strong second which is a complete turn around in his rough season so far. John Allen was a man on a mission passing three cars after the final restart to finish third.

Travis Smith has recently made his name well known in the USRA modified's would have another solid night finishing 4th and Cody Schniepp would come in a solid 5th building on his second full season at the Hummer.

Next week is the old timers reunion with the vintage cars from Wichita.
