King of America III ready to rock Humboldt this weekend
HUMBOLDT, Kan. -- All systems are “go” for the King of America III Modified Nationals this Thursday, Friday and Saturday, March 28-30, at the Humboldt Speedway in Humboldt, Kan.
The Iron Man Challenge for USRA B-Mods will join the party with a complete program of heat races and feature events all three nights. USRA B-Mod drivers will be racing for $500 to win Thursday with a whopping $2,000 top prize posted for Friday and $1,000 to the winner on Saturday.
The crown jewel event will culminate on Saturday night with a 100-lap main event for the USMTS Modifieds that pays $10,000 to win and $1,000 to start.
Friday night will also feature the USRA Race of Champions which is open to all USRA Modified track champions from the 2012 season and past USRA Modified national champions.
USRA Modified drivers already entered and eligible for this inaugural event include Chateau Raceway, Deer Creek Speedway and 2012 USRA national champion Brandon Davis; Humboldt Speedway champion John Allen; LA Raceway champion Terry Schultz; Mississippi Thunder Speedway champion Lucas Schott; Monett Speedway and Springfield Raceway champion Jackie Dalton; Nevada Speedway champion Jim Body; North Central Arkansas Speedway champion Rob Muilenburg; and Valley Speedway champion Dean Wille.
On Thursday and Friday, pit gates will open at 3 p.m., grandstands open at 5, the drivers meeting is at 6:15, hot laps for USRA B-Mods is at 6:45 and the first heat race will follow. All times are one hour earlier on Saturday.
Three-day reserved seat tickets are on sale now for just $50 for adults, $30 for youth ages 13-16 and $15 for kids ages 6-12. Single-day tickets for grown-ups are $20 on Thursday and Friday, $25 on Saturday. Youth get in for $10 each day and kids are just $5. Children ages 5 & under get in for free every day.
