BANKS, Ore. -- In 2011 the final race of the year was won by the driver who captured the most USRA Modified victories at Sunset Speedway Park. Kenny Miller of Vancouver, Wash., posted the same feat as he became the only repeat winner in 2012 at the Banks bullring after capturing the win on Saturday, Sept. 22.

Miller seized the lead in lapped traffic on lap 26 in what was practically a non-stop feature. Only one caution occured in the 40-lapper, and once he took the point position there would be no stopping the Jody’s Nothin But Fun Bar & Grill/VP Braille Services #57 TRE on his route to victory lane. Miller made the pass on outside polesitter Donald Schott of Portland in his Schott Paving #11X McCoy who led the field the drop of the green flag until being overtaken.

Schott finished second place followed by Mike Gummus of Ridgefield, Wash., in the Jimsflagsales.com #10 Hoffman. The balance of the top 5 were Vancouver, Wash.’s Sonny Sayre in his Bullet Proof Racing/CarStars Auto Body #50 BMS in fourth and fellow Vancouverite Chris Quinn driving the Dancin Bare/Double J Tire Center #23 posting a fifth-place finish.

Miller was quickest in qualifying at a time of 19.995 seconds among 23 drivers. Winners of the heat races were the Dancin Bare #4D4 of Castle Rock, Washington’s Danny Daniels, Mike Sweere of McMinnville in the Sweere’s Trucking/Perfection Automotive #63 Dirtworks and the DNL Truck Parts/Hedge Carter’s Continuous Gutter Service #85 of Ricky Ashley from Jasper. Winning the heat race was Miller and the consolation race was won by Springfield driver Jake Mayden in the Team S.D.M.F./DRM Motorsports #28 Dirtworks.

Earning the season track championship was Quinn for car owner Danny Daniels.
