“Whitey” out of retirement, back in Humboldt winners circle

HUMBOLDT, Kan. -- The Justin “Whitey” Folk saga at Humboldt Speedway opened another chapter Friday. Having "retired" earlier in the season and sold off every bit of his racing operation, Folk saddled up once again in the seat of elder brother, Jess Jr.'s USRA Modified.

Last week's third-place finish apparently removed any traces of rust as Folk took the lead in the first circut of the 25-lap feature, then wired the field.

Wichita driver Cody Schniepp, a Humboldt regular this season, turned in a brilliant driving performance to garner the runner-up spot. Third went to John Allen, with newcomer Tad Davis in fourth and Randy Zimmerman fifth.

In USRA B-Mod action, Tim VanGotten held odd Jeremy Chambers to record yet another feature win. Curt Drake took third, with Brad Jarman fourth and Jimmie Davis fifth.

Next Friday, Aug. 31, will decide the track points champions for 2012. The vintage racers will make an appearance and the ladies get to show their skills in the powder puffs.
