Season Championships, Fan Appreciation Night this Friday at Mineral City Speedway
FORT DODGE, Iowa -- The Mineral City Speedway in Fort Dodge, Iowa, will host its final weekly event of the 2012 campaign this on Friday, Aug. 24, with Season Championships in all five weekly divisions plus Fan Appreciation Night featuring a $1,000 Kids Money Drop.
Admission is just $5 for general admission this Friday at Fort Dodge’s ‘Palace of Speed’ and kids ages 5 and under get in FREE as always. Pit passes are $25. Grandstand gates open at 5 p.m., hot laps start at 7 and racing begins at 7:30.
Six classes will be in action – USRA Stock Cars, USRA B-Mods, USRA Hobby Stocks, Econo Stocks and Hornets plus the popular USRA A-Mods will also be on the card with season champions crowned following the final checkered flag of the evening.
USRA A-Mod rules for this event are flat tappet steel-headed engines only with no spoiler. Quick changes are allowed with an 8,000 rpm chip. Race format will be draw/redraw. Tires allowed for the A-Mod, Stock Car and B-Mod classes are American Racer KK-704 or Hoosier G-60. USRA track and national points will be awarded in all divisions USRA-sanctioned divisions.
USRA A-Mods will pay $500 to win. The USRA Stock Car and USRA B-Mod feature winners will earn $350 each and USRA Hobby Stocks will battle for a top prize of $300. Econo Stocks and Hornets are $100 to win.
Friday’s show will wrap up the regular season at the Mineral City Speedway, with one special event left to close out the year. The Bruce Sommerfeld Memorial will be held Friday and Saturday, Oct. 5-6, with the finale for the Industrial Material Surplus Iron Man Challenge featuring USRA Stock Cars, USRA B-Mods and more.
