DECORAH, Iowa -- The USRA Stock Cars and USRA B-Mods teamed up again Saturday night for a big show at the Upper Iowa Speedway in Decorah, Iowa, for the Industrial Material Surplus Iron Man Challenge.

Jason Schlangen from nearby Cresco the $500 top prize in the B-Mod main event, leading all 20 laps en route to his first Iron Man victory.

Brian Mahlstedt of Ionia settled for the runner-up spot after a valiant effort to beat Schlangen to the finish line.

Chris Weigert of New Hampton was third, Decorah’s Brian Webb was fourth and 13-year-old points leader Trevor Hunt of Kearney, Mo., rounded out the top 5.

Sixth through tenth were 14th-starting Josh Bonnstetter, Curtis Engen, Trevor Fecht, Jared Timmerman and Austin Schrage.

Hunt continues to lead the USRA B-Mod standings for the Iron Man Challenge, followed by Timmerman, Ben Kates, Tyler Droste and Schlangen.

In the fast and furious full-fendered feature event, defending USRA Stock Car national champion Mitch Hovden scored another win in front of his hometown crowd and took home $700 for his efforts.

Three-time USRA B-Mod national champ Matt Jones of Waukon led the first three laps before relinquishing the top spot to Hovden, and then came up just short at the checkered flag and had to settle for second place.

Lynn Panos of Protivin claimed the third position, Kevin Donlan of Decorah was fourth and Decorah’s Danny Sacquitne rounded out the top 5 finishers.

2009 USRA Stock Car national champion Tory Reicks of Waucoma was sixth. Shay Curtin, Kyle Falck, two-time USRA Stock Car national champion Tom Schmitt and Denny Dettman completed the first ten at the checkered flag.

Schmitt remains the Iron Man Challenge points leader for the USRA Stock Cars with Steve Jackson, Jake Masters, Falck and Jones sitting second through fifth, respectively.

Industrial Material Surplus Iron Man Challenge action continues Sunday night at the Nobles County Speedway in Worthington, Minn., with both the USRA Stock Cars and USRA B-Mods back on the track sharing the spotlight with the USMTS Modifieds.
