DECORAH, Iowa -- The Industrial Material Surplus Iron Man Challenge returns to action with a pair of events this Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 18-19, featuring both the USRA Stock Cars and USRA B-Mods on the ticket.

The Upper Iowa Speedway in Decorah, Iowa, will host the too-tough-to-tame series on Saturday, and then the drivers cross the border to battle at the Nobles County Speedway in Worthington, Minn., on Sunday.

Two-time USRA Stock Car national champion and current Iron Man points leader Tom Schmitt of Independence, Iowa, leads a stellar field of full-fendered machines and their lead-footed pilots into this weekend’s doubleheader.

In the high-flying USRA B-Mod ranks, 13-year-old Trevor Hunt of Liberty, Mo., leads the standings as he looks to repeat his win from earlier this season at the Upper Iowa Speedway.

Stock Cars will be racing for $700 to win and $125 to start both nights while B-Mods will battle for $500 to win and $80 to take the green flag in the main event.

The USMTS Modifieds will share the spotlight each night.

On Saturday, gates open at 5 p.m. and hot laps begin at 6:30 with racing to follow. Also on the racing card will be the Iron Man Challenge for USRA Stock Cars and USRA B-Mods.

The Upper Iowa Speedway is a 1/4–mile semi-banked clay oval located 1.8 miles east of US 52 on SR 9, then 1.0 mile northwest on Montgomery St., then northeast on E. Sunday’s event will see gates open at 4 p.m. and hot laps begin at 5:30 with racing at 6 p.m. USRA Hobby Stocks and Micro-Sprints will also join the card.

The Nobles County Speedway is a 1/4–mile semi-banked clay oval located off of I-90 at Exit 43, then 0.4 mile south on SR 59, then 0.4 mile west on Oxford St., then 0.2 mile north on McMullan (Pioneer Village). The 2012 Industrial Material Surplus Iron Man Challenge points champion will be determined by the best 10 finishes for Stock Cars and best 12 finishes for the B-Mods. All Iron Man Challenge events will also award national points in the American Racer USRA Weekly Racing Series.
