Simpson earns career first USRA Modified feature win at Grays Harbor Raceway

ELMA, Wash. -- Five-time Grays Harbor Raceway Hobby Stock champion Zack Simpson earned his first career USRA Modified feature victory and the fifth different main event winner in the classification in 2012. The Hoquiam shoe led all thirty laps to put his Jacknut Apparel #12 entry in victory lane despite challenges at times by Joe German of Aberdeen and Scott Miller from Shelton.

The Power Train Application/CCS Industrial Services #75X of German would finish in second with Miller in third driving the Blue Bear Park/Blondie’s Restaurant #26. The balance of the top five included the D&C Competition Engines/Williams Family Salsa #14M of Craig Moore from Seabeck and Aberdeen’s Greg Dineen driving his Wishkah Iron Works/Green Light Carpet Cleaning #19 finishing fourth and fifth respectively. Quick time in the division was 17.969 seconds set by Miller while heat races were won by Zack Simpson and Joe German.

The USRA Modifieds will take this coming weekend off as the second annual Wild Wild West Modified Shootout begins in southern Oregon. The Grays Harbor Raceway will host the sixth scheduled race of the seven event speedweek on Friday, June 22, and will also have NASCAR veteran Kenny Schrader in competition.

The Grays Harbor Raceway is known for its high speeds and side by side racing as well as its large size. Hosting regular racing action from April to September with 360 Sprints, USRA Modifieds, USAC Midgets, Hobby Stocks, and Hornets as regular classes. In addition the venue will host the World of Outlaw Sprint Car Series and American Sprint Car Series-National Tour.
