Dodge County Speedway kicks off 2012 season with Schlangen in victory lane

KASSON, Minn. -- On a beautiful Mother’s Day, the Dodge County Speedway dropped the green flag on the 2012 race season. B&M Promotions took over the reigns of the historic fairgrounds speedway in March and will continue Sunday night racing in Kasson.

Shaun Walski used his pole starting spot to lead the USRA B-Mod feature from the drop of the green flag. Jason Schlangen worked to second and then made the pass of Walski for the lead on lap 6. Kylie Kath entered the picture and also passed Walski for second.

Walski again challenged Kath for second and they battled side by side on laps 10-11. Walski slipped back past, but Schlangen was gone up front. Schlangen cruised to the win with Walski second. Kath was third with Jacob Bleess and Jerry Young in the top five.

The Hall of Fame Night that was scheduled for next Sunday, May 20, has been postponed to later in the year. Stay tuned for more details on that as they become available. Racing resumes next Sunday with racing getting underway at 5:00.
