FORT DODGE, Iowa -- Mother Nature so far has not been kind to the fans or drivers at the Mineral City Speedway, raining out the first two attempts to get the opening night show in. But despite severe weather that dumped hail on Fort Dodge around race time Friday night, a good crowd was on hand for the season opener with 88 cars and drivers signed in to kick off the 2012 campaign.

Feature winners were Rod Scheuermann of Scranton (USRA A-Mods), Wayne Crimmins of Fort Dodge (USRA Stock Cars), Matt Lettow of Roland (USRA B-Mods), Josh Niemand of Fort Dodge (USRA Hobby Stocks), Jake Bieret of Wall Lake (Econo Stocks) and Mick Evans of Fort Dodge (Hornets).

Scheuermann and Crimmins both pocketed $1,000 at the pay window for their efforts while Lettow took home $750 and Niemand cashed $600.

Action continues next Friday, May 11, for O’Reilly Auto Parts Night. Pits open at 4:00, grandstand gates open at 5:00 and hot laps start at 7:00 with racing to follow. Adult grandstand tickets are $10, kids ages 13-16 are $6 and children ages 12 & under get in for free. Pit passes are $25.

The Mineral City Speedway is a 1/2-mile semi-banked dirt oval located 0.9 mile north of US 20 on US 169, then 0.5 mile east on 230th. For more information check out www.mineralcityspeedway.com online.
