Sunset Speedway Park cancels race, will host practice instead

BANKS, Ore. -- The Sunset Speedway Park once again will delay the start of the first race of the season due to conditions of the grounds cancelling the May 5th event. Instead there will be an open practice in its place for any teams, drivers, or fans wishing to see some action on the track. The Banks venue will open up the track for testing and tuning from 3:30 PM until Dusk. Car and Driver entry and Pit Passes are $25 and any spectators wishing to watch from the grandstands get in for free.

Next Saturday May 12th will see the USAC Ford Focus Midgets in action as well as the newly created Northwest Extreme Sprint Car Series, USRA Modifieds, Street Stocks, and 4-Bees. The 19th will have the Northwest Wingless Tour back along with the PHRA Dwarf Cars, Pure Stocks, Womens, and 4-Bees. The 26th and 27th will feature a doubleheader for Memorial Day weekend with the Northwest Extreme Sprint Car Series, USRA Modifieds, Street Stocks, and Pure Stocks. On the 26th the Tracers will be in action and the 27th will see the addition of the Womens classification.

The Sunset Speedway Park is located just west of the Portland metro area in Banks on the Sunset Highway. The venue is located in a gorgeous small town setting with rolling hills in the background and hosts weekly competition with Northwest Extreme Sprint Car Series, Northwest Wingless Tour, USRA Modifieds, Street Stocks, 4-Bees, Pure Stocks, Womens, and Tracers classes.
