HUMBOLDT, Kan. -- Scott Drake methodically worked his way through traffic and up to the front of the pack, and then raced around leader Shawn Strong with two laps remaining to score the USRA B-Mod victory Thursday night at the Humboldt Speedway.

Drake, who also won the feature at ‘The Hummer’ on March 16 as part of the Industrial Material Surplus Iron Man Challenge event, started 14th on the grid and made his bid for the lead after 18 of the 20 laps were complete.

Strong was looking for his second win in a row after capturing Wednesday’s checkers, but had to settle for the runner-up paycheck behind the veteran racer from Joplin, Mo.

The win was worth $400.

Steven Muilenburg came from 17th to snag the third spot, with Kip Hughes and Jimmy Davis finishing fourth and fifth after a spirited battle.

Dan Wheeler, Nick Newton, Jeremy Chambers, Dustin Daniels and Humboldt’s Jeremy Wilson completed the top 10.

Action continues Friday and Saturday as the USRA B-Mods join the USMTS Modifieds in action during the King of America II Modified Nationals. Drivers will be racing for a stout purse and national points in the American USRA Weekly Racing Series.

Friday’s USRA B-Mod main event pays $500 to win and $1,000 foes to the winner of Saturday’s finale.

USRA rules will apply except that B-Mods must utilize a solid pull bar.

On Friday, pit gates open at 3:00, grandstands open at 5:00, hot laps start at 6:30 and USMTS time trials begin at 7:00. All times will be one hour earlier on Saturday.

General admission grandstand tickets are $20 Friday and $25 Saturday. Kids tickets are $10 each night and pit passes are $35 Friday and $40 Saturday.
