KASSON, Minn. -- Extreme heat and humidity greeted both racers and fans alike this week at the Dodge County Speedway. It was the final night of the 154th Dodge County Fair and Mother Nature tried her best to spoil the night.

Just when the first race of the night came on to the track a sudden downpour put a quick stop to the action. After about fifteen minutes the rain stopped and it took the better part of an hour to get the speedway back in raceable shape.

Parker Hale was pursued by Kylie Kath in the early stages of the USRA Karl Performance Parts B-Mod feature. Kath dogged the leader until lap 14 when he got the position. Hale then spun and that put an end to his potential good run.

Kath survived three caution flags and led the rest of the feature for his second win at Kasson. Greg Mattick finished second with Shaun Walski, Billy Steinberg and Chad Vaith third, fourth and fifth.

The USRA RHS Modified main event was a dandy for a while. Front row starters Mike Sorensen and Steve Wetzstein battled tooth and nail back and forth for the lead. The duo went side-by-side for the better part and seven laps. The race had a nice rythym to it with good racing going on for the top five.

The first yellow came out on lap 16 and things spiraled down from there. A total of five yellow flags flew one that included a five-car pile-up, that finally made it a green, white checkered dash to the finish.

Sorensen held on for his first win of 2011 and 49th of his career here which ties him second all-time to Mert Williams in the Sunday night era which started back in 1970. Wetzstein was a close second while Brandon Davis held off Tim Donlinger and Josh Angst for third.
