Three big events in four days as USRA Iron Man Challenge heads to Worthington, Fort Dodge, Cresco


WORTHINGTON, Minn. -- Three events are on tap for this week for the USRA Iron Man Challenge featuring USRA Karl Chevrolet Stock Cars and USRA Karl Performance Parts B-Mods racing in conjunction with the USMTS Modifieds.

The chaos begins at the Nobles County Speedway in Worthington, Minn., this Sunday, June 12, where Stock Cars will be racing for a top prize of $700 and $125 to start the main event while B-Mods battle for $500 to win and $75 to start.

Gates open at 4 p.m., hot laps are scheduled for 5:30 and the first heat race takes to the track at 6 p.m. Also on the racing card will be USRA Hobby Stocks racing for track and national points in the American Racer USRA Weekly Racing Series, plus Sportsmans and Outlaw Mini-Sprints.

The Nobles County Speedway is a 1/4-mile semi-banked clay oval located off of I-90 at Exit 43, then 0.4 mile south on SR 59, then 0.4 mile west on Oxford St., then 0.2 mile north on McMullan (Pioneer Village). On Monday, action heads to the Mineral City Speedway in Fort Dodge, Iowa, with $700 to win the Stock Car main event and $500 for the B-Mod feature winner. In last year’s Stock Car finale, Mark Elliott became the series’ fourth different winner in four races with a thrilling finish at the Fort Dodge oval.

Pit gates open at 4 p.m. and grandstand general admission seating opens at 5. Hot laps begin at 6:30 and racing starts at 7 p.m. Along with the USMTS Modifieds, USRA Karl Chevrolet Stock Cars and USRA Karl Performance Parts B-Mods, rounding out the evening’s racing card will be USRA Hobby Stocks also competing for national points in the USRA Weekly Racing Series.

Seventeen dates at twelve dirt ovals comprise the 2011 schedule for the second season of the Iron Man Challenge. Points for both classes will be awarded based on a driver’s 10 best nights.

The points fund for the Stock Cars carries a $2,000 top prize with the tenth-place finisher earning $200. In the B-Mod class, the points champion will earn $700 with tenth-place taking home $100.

Licensed USRA drivers in both classes will also earn national points in the USRA Weekly Racing Series. To earn points and be eligible for points funds, drivers must possess a valid USRA Competitor License, utilize the American Racer KK704 racing tire on all four wheels and compete in at least ten events.

There will be an entry fee of $25 for Stock Cars and $15 for B-Mods at each event.
