Scott thrills with USRA RHS Modified win at El Paso Speedway Park

EL PASO, Texas -- Week #2 of the 2011 racing season at the El Paso Speedway Park would bring the USRA RHS Modifieds out to play in their first appearance of the 2011 season.
The final A-Main of the night would go to the USRA RHS Modifieds with an all-female front row as the 44 of Christy Georges and the 121 of Holly Jones paced the field to the green. On the start it would be the 44 of Georges taking advantage of the pole position as the 121 of Jones contended with the 2s of Stormy Scott and the G17 of Fito Gallardo as the three drivers worked high and low with the 121 of Jones shooting into the race lead.
Side by side for the runner up spot, the 2s of Scott would start to work the 44 of Georges as the G17 of Fito Gallardo held off the 111 of Bumper Jones for fourth. Back to the front of the field, Stormy Scott would take over second, running down the 121 as the leaders approached lapped traffic. Working side by side, Scott would use slower traffic to his advantage, pinning the 121 of Jones in order to make the pass.
Up to third, the 111 of Bumper Jones would use similar tactics to move into second as the 121 fell to third. As the 2s and the 111 continued working in and out of slower traffic, the 15 lap mark would see the 0 of Jake O’Neil moving his way through the field. After starting 15th, the Big’uns Southwest Services 0 from Tucson, Arizona would move into the top five, running down the battle for third between the 121 of Jones and the G17 of Fito Gallardo. Up to third, the G17 of Gallardo would start to work on running down Bumper Jones as Jake O’Neil began running down Jones in 121.
In slower traffic, the 2s seem unfazed, moving to well over a straight-a-way over the 111 of Bumper Jones on route to his second win in a row in 2011. Bumper Jones with a very tight car would hold onto second with Fito Gallardo, Jake O’Neil, and Holly Jones rounding out the top five.
Up next at the El Paso Speedway Park, the Renegade Sprint Car Series will make their return. Joining the RSCS will be the West Texas Street Stocks, USRA Karl Performance Parts B-Mods and Hornets.
