OSKALOOSA, Iowa -- Officials from RL Promotions have announced a tentative schedule of events for the 2011 racing season at the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

Another exciting season of Wild Wednesday night racing action under the United States Racing Association banner will kick off Wednesday, May 18, with the season opener for the USRA Weekly Racing Series featuring Musco USRA Modifieds, USRA Karl Chevrolet Stock Cars, USRA Karl Performance Parts B-Mods and USRA Hobby Stocks.

On Wednesday, May 25, the high-flying mud-slinging Modifieds of the USMTS Casey’s General Stores National Tour powered by Swan Energy return for the 10th Annual Spring Challenge featuring nine-time USMTS National Champion Kelly Shryock, local favorite Zack VanderBeek, 2007 USMTS National Champion Jason Krohn and stars of the Dirt Knights television show like Corey Dripps, Ryan Gustin, Al Hejna, Dereck Ramirez, Mike Spaulding and Jon Tesch.

Joining the USMTS Modifieds will be the USRA Iron Man Challenge for Stock Cars and B-Mods plus USRA Hobby Stocks.

The 15th Annual Great American Stock Car Challenge will take place Tuesday-Wednesday, July 12-13, with all four classes in action and big money on the line for the Stock Car division with $1,000 to win on Tuesday and $1,500 to win on Wednesday. This will also be an event for the Iron Man Challenge for Sock Cars and B-Mods with Modifieds and Hobby Stocks also on the racing card.

Season Championships presented by Pepsi featuring the USRA Weekly Racing Series takes place on Wednesday, Aug. 24, and the curtain will close on the 2011 racing season with the thrilling 25th Annual Musco Lighting Fall Challenge on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 14-15.

Defending track champions at the Southern Iowa Speedway are Steven Blattler of Oskaloosa (Musco USRA Modifieds), Nathan Wood of Keswick (USRA Karl Chevrolet Stock Cars), Tyler Groenendyk of Oskaloosa (USRA Karl Performance Parts B-Mods) and Derek Kirkland of Centerville (USRA Hobby Stocks).
