COVID KOs 81 Speedway banquet; Open house set for February 27

After exhausting all possible scenarios, officials with 81 Speedway and the Best Western in Park City have been forced to cancel the 2020 season awards banquet due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions and mandates set in place by Sedgwick County health officials.

Replacing the banquet will be a come-and-go open house on Saturday, February 27, from 1-5 p.m. at 81 Speedway so that drivers and teams have the opportunity to pick up their awards. Refreshments will be provided and photographers will be present for those who attend.

2020 Hall of Fame inductees can also pick up their awards at the open house. A formal induction ceremony during one of the 2021 weekly racing series events will be announced at a later date.

Driver registration will also be available for those needing assistance. Come take a look at what’s been going on at the track during the offseason. If you cannot attend, you will still receive all awards and prizes earned during the 2020 season.

Banquet tickets will be refunded. Call the 81 Speedway at 316-755-1781 or The Glassman at 316-669-4527. You can also visit The Glassman in person at 4411 W. Central Ave. in Wichita. Refunds will also be avaliable at the open house on February 27.

All related hotel room reservations have been cancelled and refunded. Please contact Best Western in Park City at 316-832-9387 or stop by in person at 915 E. 53rd St. North if you have any additional questions.
