Mason City Motor Speedway goes green May 17


The Mason City Motor Speedway will turn on the green light and wave the green flag for the first time in 2020 this Sunday, May 17, at the newly-configured 1/3-mile clay oval at the North Iowa Fairgrounds.

The season opener will be highlighted by the Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series featuring USRA Modifieds, USRA Stock Cars, USRA B-Mods, USRA Hobby Stocks and the Outlaw Mini Mod Series.

Due to government restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, spectators are not allowed this Sunday. The grandstands will be closed. The pit gates will open at 3 p.m. and the drivers meeting will be broadcast live at 5 p.m. on the racetrack’s Facebook page at facebook.com/MasonCityMotorSpeedway with hot laps at 5:30 and racing at 6 p.m.

Pit passes are $30 for those age 11 and older. Kids (ages 6-10) are $20 and children (5 & under) get in for free.

Competitors in all classes are encouraged to register online at myracepass.com now until Saturday midnight.
