Vado Speedway Park shifts opening weekend plans

There is a lot of uncertainty in the world right now with the Covid-19 virus and with many states evoking shelter in place plans.

"At Vado Speedway Park, our top priority is the safety and health of our racers, fans, workers, crews and sponsors," said General Manager Chris Stepan. "We are closely monitoring the situation and encourage everyone to follow the CDC guidelines to help prevent the spread of this virus."

With that said, the track's practice set for April 3 and season opener on April 4 opener have been cancelled. Instead, Vado Speedway Park will host an open practice on Friday, April 10, from 6-9 p.m. with the season-opening event shifting to Saturday, April 11.

Not only will April 11 now serve as the 2020 season opener, but young fans can also partake in an easter egg hunt and the Easter Bunny will be on hand to meet and greet fans of all ages as well.

The Vado Speedway Park is a new state-of-the-art, semi-banked 3/8-mile clay oval located just off I-10 at exit 155, then 0.2 mile north on Stern Dr. (track is on your left) in Vado, New Mexico (between Las Cruces and El Paso).
