I-35 Speedway's Kaster Celebration this Saturday

If you enjoyed the awesome racing provided by 165 race cars this past weekend, then you will want to be at I-35 Speedway this Saturday, July 20, as we honor Larry Kaster, a great promoter from year’s past.

You could call July the month of memories as we have honored our country, a past racer in Gary Davis and now a great promoter who helped make I-35 Speedway what it has become.

In case you are too young to remember Kaster, he promoted Riverside Stadium from 1974-1985. He had short stints of promoting at the old Lakeside Speedway, Topeka Raceway Park and Bethany Fairgrounds. He was President of Mid-America Motorsports, the group responsible for relocating Lakeside Speedway, and one of the Board of Directors of the International Motor Contest Association. From 1996-2000 he promoted the I-35 Speedway.

He passed on to heaven on June 11, 2004. The current owners honor his family each year as we remember his place in local racing history.

In competition this week will be the Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series featuring USRA Modifieds, American Racer USRA Stock Cars and Out-Pace USRA B-Mods. also in action will be Sport Compacts, Pure Stocks, E Mods, Late Models, Midwest Outlaw Vintage Racers and Midwest Lightning Sprints.

Gates open at 4:30 p.m., hot laps start at 6:20 and racing gets underway at 7.

General admission tickets are $15 while seniors 62 and over are just $12. Youth 18 years and under are free. Make it a family night with the kids, make it a date night with that special someone, make your plans to be at I-35 Speedway this Saturday for a great night of racing.

Super delicious sweet funnel cakes, beverages of your choice, large tenderloins, hot fries, walking tacos, hot dogs, or grilled hamburgers, all available to satisfy what your tummy desires. A fantastic place for dinner is the Trackside Bar & Grill overlooking turn 1. Mom-pleasing clean restrooms and always free parking, where else would you be on Saturday night other than I-35 Speedway?
