Lance Town won the USRA Modified feature.

Late-afternoon clouds rolled into the Missouri River Valley and brought a welcome decrease in the afternoon temperatures for King Auto & Diesel Repair Night on Friday at the Lakeside Speedway. Six competing divisions were on hand with a total of 86 cars signed in for racing on the river’s edge including 20 USRA Modifieds, 13 Holley USRA Stock Cars and 24 Out-Pace USRA B-Mods.

Tim Shields held off a strong run by Kevin Anderson to take the first Holley USRA Stock Car heat while Brett Heeter captured heat #2. Last week’s feature winner Andy Bryant kicked off the Out-Pace USRA B-Mod heats with a victory as Don Marrs, Austin Charles and Tim Galvin also drove to wins. USRA Modifieds wrapped up the heat rce action with three events as Ryan Gillmore, Gunner Martin and Darron Fuqua picked up the wins.

Friday was the kickoff to the Rick Beebe Heating & Air Smokin’ Hot Summer Series by Prime Racing Products and Heeter became the first series winner as he kept the rest of the competition at bay to collect his sixth Holley USRA Stock Car triumph of the season over Anderson and Sam Scott.

Out-Pace USRA B-Mods were next in the lineup and it was Brad Smith who appeared to collect his third feature win of the season, holding off a furious charge by Tim Powell, who started the event 23rd on the grid before moving all the way to second place at the finish. However, post-race technical inspections led to disqualifications for both drivers and Bryant was declared the winner. He was followed by 14th-starting Doug Keller and Daniel Harris.

For the final event of the night, USRA Modifieds took to the track for a 20-lap main event. Lance Town took command from the drop of the green and despite some early race challenges by teammate Fuqua, went on to collect his second main event win of the season. Fuqua crossed the line second followed by Martin.

Up Next: On Friday, July 20, the Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series continues with USRA Modifieds, Holley USRA Stock Cars and Out-Pace USRA B-Mods competing in the Rick Beebe Heating & Air Smokin’ Hot Summer Series by Prime Racing Products. Grand Nationals, Factory Stocks, E-Mods and Four-Cylinders will also race.

The pit gate opens at 5 p.m. followed by spectator gates at 5:30, the drivers meeting at 7:15, hot laps at 7:30 and racing at 8 p.m. General admission is $12, seniors (65+) and military are $10, kids (7-12) are $6 and children (6 & under) are free. Suites are $20 and kids (2-12) are $10. Pit passes $30, kids (6 & under) are $10.
