Veal wins Race for Time at Southern Oklahoma Speedway

The second annual Race for Time for the Jimmy Everest Foundation for research and finding a cure for childhood cancer is a cause very special to track owner John Webb’s heart.

A field of 14 USRA Modifieds got underway with Cam Case starting on the pole, Case jumped out to the lead on the green with David Tanner on the inside, but after two laps C.A. Nix and Weasley Veal passed them in turn two and took the lead on the back straight-away.

Veal had a slight advantage on Nix. Racing side-by-side for several laps, Veal finally took the top lane away from Nix and he then has no choice but to follow Veal. Without a doubt, the top lane was the faster way around the track.

Veal made no mistakes. Nix tried several times to drop down a lane and challenge Veal but was unable to get enough momentum to pull Veal off the turn.

Veal inched Nix out at the line for the win.

This was a special win for Veal because his son, Ryan, was diagnosed a year ago with childhood cancer and is battling the disease in the same manner as his father battled Nix the entire race.

What a special night for the track which raised over $12,000 for childhood cancer and Veal showing his son how to never give up to win the battle.
