Hot points battles resumes Saturday at Lucas Oil Speedway

WHEATLAND, Mo.—Following a memorable open-wheel racing program, the Budweiser Weekly Championship Series returns to Lucas Oil Speedway on Saturday night.

Points battles in all four divisions heat up in the Bolivar Herald-Free Press Midseason Championships, featuring the Carson's Corner NAPA Auto Parts Street Stocks in a special 25-lap, $500-to-win feature.

The ALPS Food Stores ULMA Late Models, Pitts Homes USRA Modifieds and Ozark Golf Cars B-Mods also are on the schedule with gates opening at 5 p.m., hot laps at 7 and racing at 7:30.

An intense points race is set to resume in the USRA B-Mods where Springfield's J.C. Morton is a mere 10 points ahead of Lebanon's Kris Jackson. Morton has one feature win to Jackson's two, but Morton's consistency has been unmatched as he is no worse than fourth in any of the six features so far.

Another tight points battle is shaping up in the USRA Modifieds with defending champ Jeff Cutshaw of Bolivar 38 ahead of Eric Turner of Hermitage. Turner held off Cutshaw for the feature win on June 11, the second win of the season for Turner.
