Jackson snares Whitworth Memorial

HUMBOLDT, Kan.—With Mother Nature pushing the annual Whitworth Memorial to Sunday, area drivers took advantage of the opportunity and checked into the 3/8-mile Humboldt Speedway to chase an elusive $2,000 payday in Ray's Metal Depot USRA B-Mod action.

Lebanon, Missouri's Kris Jackson started outside the pole for the 30-lap event alongside Bonner Springs ace Ethan Isaacs.

Isaacs suffered front end damage after an incident with the turn four wall, allowing Jackson to hold off several contenders including 2015 USRA B-Mod national champion Andy Bryant of Fort Scott and Springfield, Missouri's J.C. Morton for the win.

The $2,000 payday was part of the annual Whitworth family memorial race held each year to honor Dwaine and Ron Whitworth, both instrumental for the track's success and history.

In McCarthy Auto Group USRA Modified action, Wichita driver Cody Schniepp made it two in a row, again fighting off fellow Wichita area driver Tad Davis for the victory.

Racing resumes at Humboldt Speedway on June 3rd, with all five weekly classes in competition.
