Lucas Oil Speedway kicks off Budweiser Weekly Championship Series this week


WHEATLAND, Mo.—After an action-packed opening weekly that featured the 3rd Annual Spring Nationals, it's time to wave the green flag on the Budweiser Weekly Championship Series at Lucas Oil Speedway.

Saturday's regular-season opener presented by KOZL 27 will find all four classifications in action for the first of 13 weekly programs that will culminate in track champions being crowned.

"We had a great weekend with the 3rd Annual Spring Nationals and now we're pumped to get started with the Budweiser Weekly Championship Series," Lucas Oil Speedway General Manager Dan Robinson said. "We have a tremendously talented and loyal group of drivers who compete with us on a weekly basis and I know our fans are as eager as I am to follow them on the road to crowning Lucas Oil Speedway track champions in the fall."

USRA Modifieds got a jump start as part of the Spring Nationals doubleheader program as Terry Schultz of Sedalia scored a sweep in the division.

Now it's time for the Out-Pace USRA B-Mods to join in. along with the ALPS Food Stores ULMA Late Models and Carson's Corner NAPA Street Stocks.

Mike Striegel of Wheatland is the defending Out-Pace USRA B-Mod track champ. Striegel—along with defending USRA Modified track champion Jeff Cutshaw and other class champs—will be on the midway in a 2015 track champions salute from 5-6 p.m.

There also will be a special tribute before heat races to Jake Williams, the 2014 ULMA Late Model track champ who lost his life during the off-season. Late Model driver Jon Binning will pilot Williams' No. 72 race car a lap around the track after a video presentation.

Gates open at 5 p.m. with hot laps at 7 and racing at 7:30. Ticket prices are:

Adults (16 and up) $12
Seniors (62 and up)/Military $9
Youth (6-15) $5
Kids (5 and under) FREE
Family Pass $25
Pit Pass $25

Lucas Oil Speedway is located at Highways 83 and 54 in Wheatland, Missouri. A campground with shower and bathroom facilities is also available. With it's entrance located just outside the pit gate this sprawling scenic camping facility will continue to enhance the racing experience at the Diamond of Dirt Tracks.
