Houston tops El Paso Speedway Park season opener

EL PASO, Texas--The fans kept the grandstands warm as they packed the stands for the 2015 season opener. The drivers also packed the pit area with 75 total cars checking in between all five classes combined. Between those 75 drivers one winner was Phillip Houston on the USRA Modifieds that thrashed to lap traffic to win the opening night!

Robert Vega broke the leash in the USRA Stock Car main event. He would break away to a early half track lead. Robert Vega had a outstanding lead, the battle for second was the show to watch. Danny Rodriguez in A21, and Rudy Munoz would go side by side all night for that runner-up. A late caution would fly with three laps to go. Well that lead that Robert Vega had would now condense to just a car length lead. With a "Green, Green, White, Checker" Robert just took off once again, and would win the opening night in the USRA Stock Cars with no trouble in his path.

Twenty three USRA Modifieds checked in for battle and put on a show! The opening laps were all owned by Fito Gallardo until lap traffic came around. Gallardo is usually smooth with lap traffic, but Houston caught Gallardo quickly as the G17 couldn't get around traffic. Out of turn four Philip Houston put his rear bumper right in front of Fito to pull off a dare devil mean slide job! Philip Houston would lead and wouldn't let it go to the his second main event win in 2015! That MB Custom was flying around another well prepped El Paso Speedway Park.
