Central Missouri Speedway banquet approaching fast

WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- Friday, Oct. 31, marks the final day to RSVP for the upcoming CMS 2014 Season Championship Banquet. CMS looks forward to seeing everyone at the banquet at the Courtyard by Marriott Adams Pointe Conference Center in Blue Springs, Mo., on Saturday, Nov. 15, at 6 p.m.

The track will honor champions and additional top-performing drivers in each of the weekly racing divisions. For tickets or additional information please contact Susan Walls at 816-229-1338 or Karen Darling at 660-229-0952 during business hours weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Several loads of new dirt were recently added to the track surface, ultimately raising the track surface over one foot throughout the speedway. Promoter Earl Walls stated, “We added several loads of dirt to the surface and track maintenance man Don Abney has been busy working the new dirt into the track and will continue working through the off-season as weather permits. The track is shaping up nicely and we are happy with the way things are turning out so far.”

Abney also put several hours’ worth of work into raising the pit area and smoothing things out. Drivers will see a noticeable difference in the pits and the area in which the cars enter the track, where improvements were made for the cars to enter the track at a reasonable angle, which should eliminate some of the problems with cars entering in the past.

The CMS crew recently held its first pre-season meeting to discuss the 2015 schedule and some minor rules changes for the Street Stock and Pure Stock divisions. These changes as well as an updated preview schedule will be released in the coming weeks. The initial 2015 building schedule is already available on the CMS web site. The track will follow USRA rules for Modifieds and B-Mods and will sanction the “A” Modified class under the USRA banner.

Last season’s “Guest Class” format received favorable reaction from both drivers and fans and the track will use that concept again next season as an addition to its four “Weekly Championship” divisions, which ware USRA Modifieds, Street Stocks, B-Mods, and Pure Stocks. At least six dates have been penciled in for ULMA late models with other guest classes being looked at such as Lightning Sprints and Midgets.

A pre-season registration and rules review meeting is scheduled in Warrensburg at the ABC Building on the grounds of Grover Park from 9 a.m. to Noon on Saturday, January 24th.
