Scharkey, Kath claim Chateau Raceway checkers

LANSING, Minn. -- It was an eye-opening, jaw-dropping, ooh-and-ahh kind of night at Chateau Raceway on Friday. Not only did the racers provide excitement on the track, the always highly-anticipated fireworks night was on tap. Dahle Enterprises of Morristown and Miner’s Outdoor & Rec helped present this week’s program. An extra treat for the fans was Justin Allgaier’s #51 Brandt Professional Agriculture NASCAR Sprint Cup show car which was on display.

Charlie Steinberg led the L&D Ag USRA B-Mod feature as Kylie Kath got to second on lap three. Steinberg was way out front early on while Josh Mattick moved to third and A.J. Zvorak slipped to fourth. Michael Wytaske got spun in turn three and he backed hard into the wall. Mark Wytaske had no place to turn and piled into him. Somehow Jesse Baer slipped between the two and narrowly missed the crash. The red flag was displayed as the track was nearly blocked.

When the green flag came back out, Kath threw a slick wicked slide job on Steinberg and took the lead. Mattick then passed Steinberg for second on lap 10 and set after Kath. The leaders got into lapped traffic on lap 15 and Mattick took the lead. Unfortunately for him the yellow came out for a spun car and the lap was negated to put Kath back out front.

There were three laps left and Kath held on for his second win of the season with Mattick second. Something let loose in Steinberg’s car on the final lap and the field scrambled to stay out of the moisture. Zvorak would finish third with Scott Demmer and Kadden Kath in the top five.

The French’s Repair & Fabrication USRA Modified 25-lap finale got going with Jacob Dahle, Tyler Clark and Todd Scharkey three wide for the lead in turn one. Scharkey darted to the lead but the yellow quickly came out. On the start, the leaders all got jumbled up and triggered a six car melee on the fronstretch. Joe Horgdal hit the wall and Doug Hillson got tied up with him.

Scharkey took off on the restart and led the rest of the way to earn his third win of the season. Brandon Davis took second on the restart finished a good distance behind Scharkey. Keith Foss would finish in the third position with Jason Cummins fourth and Clark was fifth.
