Hess, Olivier in Hartford winners circle

HARTFORD, S.D. -- Nick Wranek was a good bet to win the USRA B-Mod feature from the pole on a dry slick track Saturday at the I-90 Speedway. Wranek slowly increased his lead throughout the race as most of the field dropped down to the bottom line. Brock Hess, who started 10th, decided to go to the high side and showed that it was the fastest way around the track. Hess picked off car after car and sped past Wranek on lap 14 en route to his first win.

He had high praise for the racing surface adding that he liked how it put the race in the hands of the drivers. Wranek settled for second with third going to Aaron Wiersma. Hess also grabbed the points lead and now holds a 23 point advantage over Dave Kennedy and Tim Dann.

The USRA Hobby Stocks ran in a competitive pack again this week. Five drivers all battled for the lead under a blanket for most of the race. Zach Olivier passed Travis Vanden Top on lap 4. Oliver lead the last 9 laps for the win. Vanden Top took second but the two were suffocated by Brian Hoing, Dustin Gulbrandson and Tim Waltner for much of the A-Main.

The Paramount Racing Series continues on Saturday at I-90 Speedway with all five divisions in action. Hot laps beging at 6:30 p.m. I-90 Speedway hosts the USMTS Modifieds for the first time ever on Saturday, June 7.
