Fall Jamboree Tune-Up this weekend at Deer Creek Speedway Saturday night

SPRING VALLEY, Minn. -- The United States Modified Touring Series will make one last stop before the 5th Annual Featherlite Jamboree rolls into the Deer Creek Speedway this Saturday night for the Labor Day Weekend Extravaganza, which will have four stops in the Minnesota area. The swing will start at Owatonna, MN on Friday night with the first ever USMTS Select event, which will take the top twelve in passing points running two dashes. Each dash will pay $500 to win. The second dash will be inverted from the finish of the first dash. This will set the stage for the final main event that will take twenty-four cars racing for $3000 to the winner.

Another first will take place at Owatonna, MN on Friday as the USMTS King of the Hill will take sixteen drivers battling one on one in a two lap duel with the winner advancing on for the $1000 to win. On Saturday the series will move to the Deer Creek Speedway in Racine, MN for one final tune-up before the 5th Annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree rolls into Spring Valley later in September. A very large field of cars is expected for this event as drivers will come to check out the speedway to get ready for the Jamboree. Racing will get underway with hot laps at 6:00 and racing at 6:30 on Saturday night. A regular night of racing will be on the card at Deer Creek on Saturday so fans will want to get there early as a big crowd is expected. Several drivers have talked with Deer Creek and are planning on attending the racing this weekend. Tickets for the 5th Annual Jamboree will also be on sale on Saturday night so fans will want to get their spots reserved. Some great weather is forecasted for this weekend so we expect some great numbers this weekend. Several racetracks have closed up for the season, which should bring out even more cars. The main event on Saturday will pay $2000 to the winner. So far in 2003 Darin Walker and Kelly Shryock have each picked up wins at Deer Creek this season. Kelly Shryock will bring a seventy-one point lead into the racing action this weekend. Shryock has been on a huge roll since the Illinois swing began at the end of July picking up eight wins in the last eleven races. See if any driver has anything for Shryock as he shoots for his fifth straight USMTS National Championship.

Sunday and Monday the series will move to the Dodge County Speedway in Kasson, MN for two complete shows. Sunday will be the regular race night and will feature the USMTS mods racing for $2000 to win. Monday will see the USMTS mods racing for $3000 to the winner, while the Super Stocks will be added to the card for $1000 to the winner. Hot laps will be at 5:30 each night on Sunday and Monday. The last race at Kasson saw a record 72 cars show up in the pit area, while Nate Wasmund picked up his first ever USMTS win and pocketed the $2000 payday for the victory. This will be a great weekend for some final USMTS action in the area so be sure to attend one of the great speedways.
