Jones bounces back, wins USRA Modified main event at El Paso Speedway Park

EL PASO, Texas -- The second race of the 2014 season for the Barnett Harley-Davidson USRA Modifieds was great with Fito Gallardo was trying to go for two wins in a row. The Outwest Express Trucking USRA Stock Cars also made a return to give the fans a treat and what their money was worth Friday night.

White smoke is something you would not like to see coming out from under your hood as a driver, or fan. But Christian Showers in his #510 machine was blowing white smoke left and right from his USRA Stock Car in the heat race. His crew got that machine dialed in for the main event. At the green flag Christian would run away. John McDaniel last weeks winner was hungry for two wins in a row. John would try to catch up to Showers, but John had two problems; 1, he had Justin Lasiter all over him for second, 2nd; John had to gain two-dozen car lengths to pass Christian Showers for the lead. with six laps left in the Street Stock main Justin would get around John McDaniel for second. John would get Lasiter back with 5 laps to go, as he saw Christian Showers slowing down little by little. Lasiter thought he left McDaniel in the dust, but McDaniel with how hungry he was for two wins in a row. Showers would pull of into the pits and second place John McDaniel would take the lead! Lasiter would settle for second. The Alamogordo, New Mexico racer John McDaniel would park in victory lane for the second time in a row for the Outwest Express USRA Stock Car 2014 season.

Twenty one cars, 30 laps on the score board, and it was an unbelievable Barnett Harley-Davidson USRA Modified main event. Fito Gallardo, Duane Murphy and Christy Gorges would go three wide for the lead in the opening laps. Fito Gallardo would check out in G17. Gallardo was turning 18.007 second lap times! The race was in the back of the pack, with Josh Gallardo, Royal Jones, Jimmy Ray, Tom Georges, and a bunch more. Royal Jones would lose all those battles, and dropped to about 12th. With about ten laps to go Jones found the gas pedal. He was making a recovery. The race was for whoever got second, because Gallardo was gone! Royal would pass up to 3rd then battle Christy for the runner up spot. With 4 laps remaining in the main Fito Gallardo's fan belt's came off after lapping up to sixth place!! Royal Jones finally got around Christy for the second spot. Now Royal didn't even know he was in the lead, because of how far Fito Was Gone. Well Fito was "gone". Royal finally figured out that he was in the lead with a yellow coming out for a pile up in turn 3. Jones didn't see Gallardo and saw his 131 on top of the score board. With a green white checker coming up. Jimmy Ray had something for Jones. At the green Jimmy showed the way just for a breath but couldn't get enough traction to get around Royal. Ray would need a second shot. Jimmy Ray got that second shot with another yellow for a car spinning out in turn four. So at the green Royal took good notes, and took off!! Royal Jones would win the second night of an unbelievable Barnett Harley Davidson USRA Modified main event.

Next Friday ngiht, gates open at 5:30 and racing starts at 7:45 for the return of the ASCS 305 Winged Sprint Cars, USRA B-Mods, Outwest Express USRA Stock Cars and Casa Nissan Legends.
