Mother Nature wins round 2 at Mississippi Thunder Speedway

FOUNTAIN CITY, Wis. -- What a difference a single week can make! The Friday April 25th season opener at Mississippi Thunder Speedway was met with blue sky and sunshine which helped produced awesome racing action to start the 2014 season at the high-banked 1/3 mile dark-clay oval just three miles north of Fountain City, WI. But just as that opening night wrapped up, Mother Nature decided that a change of pace was necessary for week number two.

And so, a soggy, wet and chilly week was presented to racers, race fans and speedway owners throughout the upper Midwest; and those soggy, wet and chilly conditions erased all hopes of any on-track action Friday May 2nd at Mississippi Thunder Speedway.

So now attention is focused to round number three of the 2014 season – May 9th will see battles resume in all divisions on “The Big 1/3-Mile” as well as the first of two visits to the fast, wide and sweeping turns of Mississippi Thunder Speedway of the United States Modified Touring Series!

Headed towards Friday’s May 9th program race fans will see that 2012 MTS Rivercity Manufacturing USRA Modified Track Champion Lucas Schott is right back where was the last time he was a regular weekly competitor at Mississippi Thunder Speedway – at the top of the point standings. After using 2013 to follow the full USMTS Series as one of their star rookie competitors, Schott racing is returning to focus on weekly competition and he started off 2014 with a feature win at MTS! Following Schott in the standings are Brandon Davis and Steve Wetzstein.

In the Black Horse Bar & Grill USRA B-Mod division, 2013 Track Champion Jacob Bleess grabbed a feature win to open the year as the current point leader, followed by regular hot-shoe Jon Van Minsel and youth phenom Alex Williamson.

As mentioned earlier, the stars and cars of the Farm Boy BBQ USMTS Northern Region, Presented by Day Motor Sports will invade Mississippi Thunder Speedway Friday night May 9th. Regular weekly Rivercity Manufacturing USRA Modified competitors will join the Touring Series regulars to see who can master this wide, fast and racy 1/3-mile speedway to hoist the winner’s check in the MTS Victory Lane! The evening’s first green flag is scheduled to wave immediately following the 7 PM Opening Ceremonies with additional on-track competition provided by Coordinated Business Systems WISSOTA Super Stocks, Black Horse Bar & Grill USRA B-Mods, Jailhouse Saloon WISSOTA Street Stocks, REDBOX+ 600 Mods, & Elmer's Auto Salvage MTS Pure Stocks.
