BANKS, Ore. -- The USAC Ford Focus Midgets will return to Sunset Speedway Park this Saturday, Aug. 11. It will mark the second time that they have visited the Banks bullring the first being back in May for the season opener. Classes that will be racing are the Northwest Extreme Sprint Car Series, USRA Modifieds and 4-Bees.

The USRA Modifieds have had seven race and seven different winners in 2012. Clint Petty, Sonny Sayre, Doug Davenport, Mark Reser, Rob Ireland, Mark Wauge, and Jeremy Martin have been season winners this year. A non-points event was run on June 20 in which Ken Schrader was the victor in the Wild Wild West Modified Shootout event.

For Saturday’s action the front gates open up at 3:30 with racing scheduled to start at 6:00. Admission is the following prices: adults are $13, seniors $10, children (6-12) $5, children (5 and under) free, and family pack (2 adults and 2 children) $30.

On Friday, Aug. 17, a series of special races will take place at SSP. Details are being worked out on the specifics but keep an eye on the website for further details.

The Sunset Speedway Park is located just west of the Portland metro area in Banks on the Sunset Highway. The venue is located in a gorgeous small town setting with rolling hills in the background and hosts weekly competition with Northwest Extreme Sprint Car Series, Northwest Wingless Tour, USRA Modifieds, Street Stocks, 4-Bees, Pure Stocks, Womens, and Tracers classes.
