Cutshaw collects Lucas Oil Speedway laurels


WHEATLAND, Mo. -- Saturday at Lucas Oil Speedway started out with scorching hot tempertures, then the threat of much needed rain. The Weekly Championship Racing Series raced mother nature all night long, the rain held off until just after the conclusion of racing action.

For the feature event of the night, $750 to win presented by Rains Ice in the Pitts Homes USRA Modifieds plus a $300 gift certificate from race sponsor Travel Centers of America and Petro Stopping Centers, went to Jeff Cutshaw.

John Allen of Chanute, Kan., started the 25-lap feature from the pole. Allen lead the race for the first portion, with Stephen Mulinburg from Sparta and Mickey Burrell from Fair Grove battling for position just behind.

Eventually Cutshaw, of Cross Timbers, put the heat on the lead pack and picked up a couple spots. Cutshaw loomed in second before over taking the lead. Austin Siebert from Grandview started the feature in 10th and barreled through the field quickly, arriving in the top 3 in time to challenge for the lead.

Cutshaw held strong out front and recorded the win. Siebert was second with Allen and Russell behind in third and fourth, respectively.

The Hunt for the USMTS Casey's Cup rolls through Wheatland for the second time in as many seasons as the stars and cars of the United States Modified Touring Series make their only appearance of 2012 at the "Diamond of Dirt Tracks." Also on hand will be the DJ's RV B-Mods plus the Carson's Corner Napa Factory Stocks. Discount coupons are available at all participating area Casey's General Stores.

Gates open at 5 p.m., hot laps start at 7 and racing begins at 7:30. Adults (16 and up) are $20, seniors (62 and up) are $15, youth (6-15) are $5 and kids (5 and under) are free, A family pass is just $40 and pit passes are $30.
