ELMA, Wash. -- Defending track champ Joe German earned his second win of 2012 in the USRA Modifieds Saturday night on Saturday, Aug. 4, at the Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma, Wash. It was his first win since earning the season opening victory all the way back in April.  The Wishkah driver in the Ozman Service Inc./Wishkah Iron Works/Powertrain Applications #75X Skyrocket led all but two corners of the entire main event against one of the toughest classes to win in at GHR.

Joe German would begin his dominating performance out of the exit of the second corner on the opening lap and not look back from there.  Despite one caution in the feature nothing held the leader back not even the restart or the lapped traffic proved to be an obstacle for his efforts in the race.

Finishing in second place would be former champion Josh Muller, now residing Minot, N.D., originally from Montesano in the Eager Beaver Dirt Works/Duo Custom Guitars #3M and was followed by Kris Asche of Shelton in his #50K entry in third.  Asche proved to be the big mover when the only yellow of the night came out on lap eighteen.

On the restart he managed to pass both Zack Simpson and Scott Miller for positions and hold the both of them back to have a terrific run from that team.  Simpson, of Hoquiam, would cross the line in fourth place in his Jacknut Apparel/CNK Machine #12 Shaw while completing the top five was Scott Miller of Shelton, driving his familiar Blue Bear Park/Blondie’s Restaurant #26 mount, in fifth.

The quick clocker for the evening went to Josh Muller at a time of 17.179 seconds out of the thirteen cars that managed to qualify.  Winning the evening’s heat races were Muller and Craig Moore of Seabeck piloting the DNC Competition Engines/Highway Specialties #14M Dirtworks.

The USRA Modifieds will have a week off from competition to take a short break in the 2012 season.  They will not be out of action for long as Saturday August 18th marks their next date they will be in competition for Cut Rate Auto Parts Night.  For the latest information regarding the GHR be sure and visit their website which is located at www.graysharborraceway.com.
