LEBANON, Ore. -- On a scorcher of a day the racing at Willamette Speedway was level to the temperatures that were on hand which exceeded over 100 degrees for the Saturday, Aug. 4, Platt Electric Supply Night to provide some breathtaking racing in all five classes. The DirtCar Super Late Models, USRA Modifieds, Sportsman, Classic Sportsmans and Mini Trucks were all in competition for the evening.

It looked like Phil Robinson of Lebanon was en route to his first career USRA Modified feature but reigning champion Dustin Dittman had other plans. Dittman, of Albany, took the lead on lap 15 in search of his second win of the season and looked to have the field covered. Kyle Yeack made the pass for the lead on lap 28 after a late-race restart and led the rest of the distance to win his third USRA Modified feature of 2012.

Dittman finished in the runner-up position while Justin Evans of Lebanon was third. Philomath pilot Brody Pompe finished in fourth place and crossing the line in fifth was Sam Potter of Monmouth.

Earning the Fast Time Award for the night was Evans at a time of 16.654 seconds. Craig Cassell of Albany won the trophy dash and the victors in the heat races were Phil Robinson and John Campos.

Next week will be Ladies Night on Saturday, Aug. 11, with all ladies of the realm getting into the races for only $6. Classes that will be in action include the DirtCar Super Late Models, Sportsman, Classic Sportsman, and Mini Trucks. The Kart race that was scheduled for Friday, Aug. 10, has been cancelled, however, the Willamette Speedway will host the final leg of the second annual Triple Crown on Sunday, Aug. 12.
