Methvin tops USRA Modifieds at North Central Arkansas Speedway

FLIPPIN, Ark. -- As the record-breaking heat continued in the area, fans and drivers arrived late to watch and participate in another great night of racing at North Central Arkansas Speedway.

The USRA Modified feature race got underway with John Briggs and Kandy Methvin leading the field and Briggs held a narrow advantage over Methvin at the line on lap one. Methvin grabbed the lead on lap two, barely edging Briggs to the line before a single car spin bought out the first yellow flag of the event. Only a single lap was recorded before the yellow flag was displayed again, this time for a driveshaft on the track entering turn 1, left behind by Eddie Martin as he challenged for third in the running order on the high side of the speedway.

Jason Snodgrass and Rob Muilenburg fought for third position following the restart with Snodgrass trying every racing groove high and low trying to move up in the running order. A slip by Muilenburg coming off turn two allowed Snodgrass to move into third for lap nineteen, but Muilenburg was able to get back past in turn two of the following lap and hold off Snodgrass through the checkered flag.

NCAS has another full race program on tap for Friday night, July 6, along with a mechanics race and powder puff race to end the night. Be sure to bring the kids to the speedway for the traditional candy toss scheduled for children 12 and under during intermission, as well as another Racing for Education give-away for the kids during the break in the racing action.

North Central Arkansas Speedway is located between Yellville and Flippin on Hwy. 62-412. The gates open at 6:00 on Friday nights, with the racing starting at 8:00. Adult admission - $10; seniors and those with a military ID Card - $8; children 7-14 years of age - $5; kids 6 and under get in free. A family plan is just $20 for 2 adults and any children 14 and under, and a pit pass is available for $25.
