Nations picks up USRA Modified feature win at LA Raceway

LA MONTE, Mo. -- Twenty-one cars were scheduled to start in the Pitts Homes of Warsaw USRA Modified feature event at the LA Raceway Friday night, however, when the show concluded there were only 10 remaining.

Steve Twenter and Shawn Nations started on the front row with Isaac Dotson and Terry Schultz making up row 2. After three starts to the feature which sent Schultz to the tail of the field, Nations flew to the front of the pack. Dotson settled into second at the completion of lap 2. Twenter slowly fell back through the pack as the laps wound down.

After three more cautions, Dotson got the opportunity to get a run against Nations’ strong run. Dotson pulled right up next to Nations on the bottom side of turns 1-2. However, Nations closed the door going down the back shoot. Scotty Roberts took advantage of the opening and took second from Dotson in the next set of turns.

With five laps left, a caution gave Nathan Vaughn the room he needed to pass Chad Lyle for fourth place.

It looked as if Roberts was going to take the lead from Nations with only two laps left in the feature. Nations once again closed the door sealing his first feature win at the LA Raceway.

Roberts, Dotson, Vaughn and Lyle rounded out the top five.

LA Raceway invites fans to join them Friday, June 29, for Sharpe Auto Sales, Central Automotive and Glass Plus Night at the Races. Gates open at 5, with hot laps starting at 7 p.m. For more information about the track, visit www.laraceway.com.
