Kath goes cha-ching at Rivercity Rumble

FOUNTAIN CITY, Wis. -- Rivercity Manufacturing sponsored the 3rd Annual Rivercity Rumble featuring a $1,000 paycheck to the USRA Karl Performance Parts B-Mods Saturday night at the Mississippi Thunder Speedway.

Kylie Kath went ca-ching in the feature, which was supposed to be a 25-lap run with a bigger check at the end. However, the multitude of cautions shorted the race by five laps.

But before that, Parker Hale set sail with Ben Anderson in the front row. Jake Timm quickly nosed in on the action to take second behind Anderson while Kylie Kath then zipped in front of Hale for third. Shaun Walski and Hale raced for third and fourth spots while a four-wide battle set up behind them.

Kath continued his surge and headed to the lead over Anderson and Timm while Brandon Hare nonchalantly moved from seventh into third behind Timm. Timm mounted a great fight for the lead with Kath, but Kath was able to pull back away. Anderson and Walski raced for fourth as Timm kept intensifying the race with Kath for the lead to no avail.

With 14 laps down, Anderson went around in turn two pulling out another caution. Anderson headed to the tail of the field when a cautions-breed-cautions situation occurred, and the race was shortened by five laps at that time leaving Anderson no time to recapture a top 5.

Kath sailed through it all to the checkers followed by Hare, Timm, Walski and Hale.

Track points are showing some potential for a change of leaders as we look toward the end of August. In the USRA RHS Modifieds, 39 points is the spread between first and second place while the leader has 59 points over second place in the USRA Karl Performance Parts B-Mods.

Next up is a regular night of racing on Friday, Aug. 12, followed up by a USMTS Hunt race on Friday, Aug. 19.
