Truman, Harwood, Carter, McDaniel winners at Oskaloosa

OSKALOOSA, Iowa -- Josh Truman came away with the win in the Musco USRA Modified feature at the Southern Iowa Speedway Wednesday night. Ron Ver Beek finished as runner-up, Steven Blattler was third and Scott Dickey was fourth.

The USRA Karl Chevrolet Stock Car feature had Shane Weller leading the pack for the first nine laps. On the back-stretch on lap 9, Kyle Harwood made the pass to take over the lead and went home to the win. Weller had to settle for second, Steve Jackson was third, fourth went to Brian Mitrisin, and Corey Stout -- "from just over by turn one" as announcer Tony Paris always says -- finished in fifth.

The USRA Hobby Stocks ran next. Jason McDaniel took off to the lead from his outside front row starting spot. After winning four in a row, Dustin Griffiths was trying to make it number 5. Griffiths, after starting eighth on the grid, was into the second spot by lap 2 and it was looking like that might just come true. It didn't happen, as McDaniel pulled away to seal the win. Griffiths had to settle for the runner-up position, Kris Walker trailed him for third, fourth went to Steve Allen and Donovan Nunnikhoven rounded out the top-5.

The Carter's Manufacturing USRA B-Mods polished off the night's racing. Cayden Carter flew to his sixth win at the track this season, leading all 15 laps. Carter pulled away after a restart at nine laps down. Andrew Schroeder finished a distant second, Carter VanDenBerg took third place, Bill Gibson was fourth and Brett Lowry was fifth.

The races were done by 9:23 p.m., being run in less than two hours.

The American Racer USRA Weekly Racing Series returns next Wednesday, Aug. 3, featuring Musco USRA Modifieds, USRA Karl Chevrolet Stock Cars, Carter's Manufacturing USRA B-Mods and USRA Hobby Stocks.

Pits open at 5 p.m., grandstands open at 5:30, hot laps begin at 7:15 and racing starts at 7:30.
