15th Annual Musco Great American Stock Car Shootout set for Monday-Tuesday

OSKALOOSA, Iowa -- On Monday and Tuesday, July 11-12, the Southern Iowa Speedway will host the 15th Annual Musco Great American Stock Car Shootout with the region’s fastest and most talented Modified, Stock Car, B-Mod and Hobby Stock drivers trekking to the Mahaska County Monster in search of this year’s title and big cash payouts.

Fans and drivers alike will get a complete show each day with a full slate of heat races, last chance qualifiers and main events in all four classes on the Osky half-mile oval and both days will be part of the popular Iron Man Challenge for both USRA Karl Chevrolet Stock Cars and USRA Karl Performance Parts B-Mods.

Two different kinds of Modifieds will be featured. Monday’s event will be regular USRA RHS Modified rules while Tuesday will be under the USRA’s “alternative” Modified rules package. Except for drivers utilizing the CT525 crate engine, the alternative rules stipulate that only flat tappet 23-degree steel-headed engines are permitted (no raised runner heads and no rollers) and spoilers will not be allowed.

The event is sanctioned by the United States Racing Association and will award national points both days in the American Racer USRA Weekly Racing Series. Licensed USRA drivers will be awarded 100 track points each day, except for the Modifieds on Tuesday.

Pits open at 5 p.m., grandstands open at 5:30, hot laps begin at 7:15 and racing starts at 7:30 both days.

There is no entry fee for any class either day.
