Springfield's J.C. Morton took the top spot from leader Dayton Pursley at the halfway point of the USRA B Mod feature and had to fend back both Pursley and Mitchell Franklin for his 2nd feature win Friday night at The Lebanon Midway Speedway.

Morton who was nipped at the finish by Franklin in his qualifying heat on the last lap, started the feature in the 4th spot was part of an outstanding 3 car battle in entire distance of the feature.

Pole setter Dayton Pursley jumped to the opening lead with Franklin and Morton in tow as the trio were all over the track.
 In Pursley setting a quick pace, Franklin in his Franklin Motorsports chassis was going both high and low along with Morton chasing the leader.

On lap 5, Morton moved into 2nd place putting pressure on Pursley.

Following a restart, Morton shot off the high side of turn 3 to take control, but it was far from over as Franklin moved around Pursley on lap 11 for 2nd place and gaining on Morton in his Yeoman Engine/Allen chassis 18.

Caution flew on lap 12 slowing the pace.

On the double file restart, Franklin picked the top groove as his car was working good upstairs. As the field fired, Pursley made a low groove move to take 2nd as Morton was smooth allowing the former USRA National champion a small advantage with 2 laps remaining.

Morton crossed about 3 car lengths ahead of Pursley in his Econo Lift 10p ,Franklin, a hard charging Donnie Fellers who recovered from an earlier incident and Jay Flinn completed the top 5.

Pursley and Franklin captured the qualifying heats.

Summit USRA Racing continues next Friday night at the Midway with racing at 8 PM featuring Late Models, Midwest Mods, Pure Stocks,Super Stocks and Hornets.
